Iran Ministry: 3,000 Protest-Related Injured Sought Hospital Treatment, 13,000 Surgeries Performed
The Head of Public Relations for Iran's Ministry of Health announced that approximately 3,000 individuals injured in the recent riots in the country, who had been treating themselves at home, have now visited medical centers. To date, about 13,000 surgical operations have been performed on the wounded from these incidents.
Hossein Kermanpour, in an interview with a Fars News Agency reporter, stated: "Last week, an interview was conducted urging the wounded from recent events to seek treatment at medical centers across the country."He added: "Fortunately, in recent days, these individuals, who were treating themselves at home, gained trust and nearly 3,000 of them have visited medical centers."Kermanpour noted: "Many of these individuals needed surgery, which has been performed, and follow-up surgeries are also underway."Kermanpour emphasized: "The treatment of these individuals is carried out solely by charging the usual visitation fee, similar to other ordinary patients."Iran’s Judiciary has dismissed certain reports claiming that detainees of the recent terrorist riots across the country who suffered from an acute illness or critical physical condition were transferred to prisons without receiving medical services."Prisoners suffering from acute illness, critical physical conditions, injuries, or trauma will not be admitted until their condition is stabilized and they have recovered,” the Judiciary said on Monday.Such detainees will be transferred to a medical center by the relevant officials, it added.Meanwhile, the General Directorate of Tehran prisons also said the admission of injured individuals or those in critical physical conditions into prison is in violation of the regulations of the country's State Prisons organization.
