The tanker was struck and stopped after a fire broke out on board. The statement said that illegal passage through the Strait of Hormuz would have no outcome other than the destruction of the non-compliant vessel.Addressing the Iranian people, the statement added: “As your epic presence in the field enters its 200th consecutive night, the brave warriors of Islam and the IRGC Navy’s courageous sailors continue to firmly maintain control of the vital waterway of the Strait of Hormuz and do not allow any aggressor to pass through it.”The Islamic Republic of Iran has repeatedly stressed that safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz is possible only after coordination with the IRGC and with protection provided by the IRGC Navy.
